The English-speaking church in Ibiza and Formentera is a part of the European Diocese of the Church of England. It was established with the support of the Intercontinental Church Society (ICS) in 1984 after various part-time clergy and laity, some coming over from Mallorca, had been taking services and seeking to establish an English-speaking church here on the island.
Even though we are part of the Anglican Church, the Church is made up of people from all sorts of different backgrounds, including Salvation Army, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Pentecostal and others. The common denominator is that we are Christian and speak English, and we have members of our church from the UK, the USA, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, and other countries. We use the Anglican liturgy as the basis of our services although we are flexible in our worship.

Church Links
We have a very strong link with the Roman Catholic Church here on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera as well as a good friendship with the Spanish-speaking Protestant Churches. For our Sunday services, we are offered the use of the Roman Catholic churches of San Rafael and the Capilla de Lourdes in Santa Eulalia. We also on occasions have joint meetings with the Roman Catholic church and other denominations on the island.
Church Activities
We have a wide variety of activities that people can join in, including Sunday services every week, weekly Home Bible Study groups, Alpha courses, two weekly prayer meetings, healing services, Men’s Breakfast and various social and fund-raising activities as well as outreach to the local hospitals, old people’s home and Ibiza prison in the form of visiting. |
